Hi guys, Any more info on the 3's relay. How long is it? Track direction? Sort your own teams or lucky dip?
Thanks, Lukie.

Probably goes without saying, but this long weekend lets all keep off the tracks.
Even though they will be smashed by motos.

Teams will be decided on the day by the race director. The plan is to create some "eveness" in the teams by spreading the talent. This can only be sorted after rego. This event works just like an athletics running relay. All but the starting riders are sent out to change over areas around the track. Starting riders race to the first changover and pass their 'team batton' to their next team rider. Rather than the last team rider stopping at the finish they will continue on to pass the batton to the rider who started the race that would be waiting at the first change over point. One lap is completed when the starting rider has returned to the race start area. It will be decided on the day how many lap rotations will be done. Track will be normal Butterfly loop. There is no timing. Its first across the line. Keep in mind that this is scheduled for Butterfly. The weather will be a factor in the access to the track. Got any questions? Just ask.

Russ, when you say "talent" are you talking looks, singing ability, whether you ride a Lapierre, or all of the above?!?! ;D

Spent 4 hours on the Butterfly track in the rain today fixing drainage, clearing storm damage, etc. Should be ready for a good race if the weather settles down during the week and doesn't come back on Saturday as predicted. Surprisingly there was no sign that motos had been on the course at all over the weekend, and if they had the rain had washed it all away. ;D Not sure if I'm going to be there on Sunday but it would be good if some riders did a lap or two later in the week/Saturday, if the race is going ahead, just to check for branches, rocks, etc that might make their way onto the track during the week. Might be out there on Saturday myself. Hope you all have a fun race! Geoff

Thanks for that Geoff. I'll be weather watching rest of week and make a call prob. friday. You're right about the access road. The condition of this will determine the event running or not. Shame, but not much we can do.

What about a last minute change of venue to cabbage if the weather turns?
It's pretty well drained now.

What do you reckon the changes are for the week end?
The wife is working and I wasn't going to worry about getting the kids look after as I wouldn't think Butterfly was going to happen, but if you are looking at Cabbage I might make some arrangements to get a ride in since I missed Mondays tropical conditions with Lewy and Tony.

Unfortunately our race venues are locked in at the start of the year. We can't change an events location with out sufficient notice to the landholder. Butterfly Rd would be impassable right now and would take a lot of sun and wind to dry out. I will check on rd conditions on Friday arvo and make the call. If it rains tomorrow and/or Friday and/or Saturday plan something else for Sunday. Stay tuned for updates. Perhaps a social ride at cabbage? (If the track conditions allow)

Well the rain has started. So I guess that means no racing tomorrow?

I doubt there'll be anywhere suitable for racing tomorrow so at least this time its not just a Butterfly issue.
