An inspection was done of Superbowl today by the Pres and Trails co-ordinator. Both were shocked by the devistation to some parts of the track. Some parts don't even exist anymore. The damage is far to great to ready this trail for racing in time for the next XC round. Plus we don't know if the logging/tidy up/burning work is finished in that area.
So at this stage the XC round 2 will be at Butterfly. Access to Butterfly and the trail itself looks o.k. but may need a tidy up before the day.

The new section Lewy and I put in is a little hard to see as it was never riden in properly so I'll fix it up before the race.

As most of you are aware, MTBA required a level 1 commissaire at all club events this year. Due to the lack of support from MTBA to facilitate members to gain this accreditation I made a call, as the President, to go ahead with our events because I was confident we could provide safe well marked trails. Essentially that responsibility was with me in lieu of a commissaire.
I won't be able to be at the Butterfly race as I'll be working on Coondoo with Russ (on the Sat and Sun...anyone else is most welcome) in preparation for the Chocolate foot race the following weekend.
I'm going to ride Butterfly this Saturday to make a call whether it is acceptable for the race the next weekend. Anyone that wants to come along for the ride, I'll be at the quarry @ 8:30am.

Cant make it tomorrow morning but I did some work out there this morning and was planning on doing more before next weekend so let me know want needs doing.

I was just wondering why you guys are running the club round at Butterfly the weekend before STM runs their round at Coondoo?
I know a few people who would like to give Coondoo a crack pre the STM race and would make the trip to do so.
Plus, wouldn't it get the track run in before SCUM showcases it to the masses?

Went and had a ride at Butterfly today. The track is ok just needs some leaves off the track. (if anybody has the time)
Would be good to have some helpers with marking the track out in the morninig, We will be aiming for 7 to set up. Rego for 7.30 - race 9.15.
Will do a mud flickers race up on top of the quarry for all those with young riders.
Remember jnr riders are free just need insurance.

I can't get out there until the weekend but I am happy to walk the track and clear debris on Saturday morning if anyone wants to join me. I'll aim for 9am at the quarry but if anyone else gets out there before me and does it could you please let us all know?  Thanks Geoff |

I will be doing a lap of Butterfly on Friday arvo with Crazyjose. I walked most of the track on Sunday morning and it seemed ok to me so I will just clear a few bits off.

Better keep an eye out for branches hanging over the track guys. Might need to prune a few things back. I haven't been out there with the tools for several months.
