For those that have been out to Coondoo recently but didn't enter via Western Rd you would have noticed a heap of trees down and tracks going nowhere.I spoke to forestry today and they are upgrading Western Rd from Forest Rd to Comberton complete with new pipes and bridges in the low areas, then the surface graded, rolled and sealed with roadbase. The mess around Kashmir was them cutting down trees for the bridge.

OMG .... can this be true? Are we actually going to be able to have real 2wd access to the real trailhead? I, for one, am completely astounded & stoked that this is happening. We need to spread the word about this.
Will this open the door for a more truely permanent trail head?

I drove my Mazda 6 wagon down there on Sunday after the race @ Butterfly ... made it without an issue; in fact Tippo could even make it in the Chevy, only picking dirt up on his tyres & not his grill. It was clear that they had not finished, so it will be great when it's all done. Yeehaa
