I just put on a WTB Weirwolf LT 2.55. The hype on the website says its a monster and measure your forks or it might not fit. Its not really all that big. Heaps of room on the monocog And heaps of room on Kel's Mary with REBA 29er forks The extra width was good on my 1 and only slow lap of butterfly today

So is it true what they say, does size really matter?

It's not the size that matters, it the piledrivin'.........quads behind 'em. ;D (I think I got out of that safely)

Ok you 29er legends, what are these tyres going like? Its time for some new ones for mine and I'm thinking of some experimenting The yank forums on tyres are mind bogoling so give up some 29er tyre reports

Well the last time I rode the 29er was the last time I posted in this thread.
Kel is the man with the goss.
I don't think I will be riding the 29er to the race on Sunday.
If you want to try out the front you can swing by for a ride in the arvo on Sunday

I am runnig two tires at the moment - the Maxxis Crossmark 2.1 x 29 inch and the exiwolf 2.3 x 29inch. The Crossmarks are great out at Cabbage. Very quick and they do well for a longer distance tire for fire roads and some bitumen riding when required to get from A to B. I used the crossmarks for the 8 hour Working Week series at Coondoo. They handle well and roll extremely well. I run them no lower than 20 psi - normally 25.
I prefer to have the Exi's on for Butterfly and Superbowl - actually I prefer this tire over anything else I have tried. It is a great tire. It's not for racing, but then again, neither am I.
Better climbing (It think) and I feel more confident going down the loose surfaced descents at Butterfly. The exi's may be a softer compound as I have heard they get worn down rather quickly on sealed roads. I run these no higher than 20 psi. The 2.3 inch width creates a lot of volume and profile height for the tire and you notice it on the trail. Added benifits are a bigger footprint or contact surface area ect ect. And seeing that big fat front tire in front of you when you look down over the handle bars does give me a sense of security too.
