Our next Club event will be at the Coolendel Bush Camping Area. Go to www.scum.asn.au and look at the "next event" bit and have a look at the race flyer if you want. It has always been a great weekend of MTBing and is a great change from riding our own SCUM tracks. It only happens once a year, so check out which events you might be interested in and come along and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. /R Kel.

How about having a 3 race combined results format as well? Award points according to your placeing for each of the 3 races and tally them up at the end.

Just a quick update on whats been happening at Coolendel. With the assistance of the full track building crew from Chater Racing we have the track already for the upcoming weekend. The track from last year is in very good race condition. We have added over 1 kl of new single track for this year giving us a total length of 7 kl ms. This was prepared 6 weeks ago and has settled in very well with several year 10 school groups riding and enjoying this testing addition. Today I sent to Kel the names of 77 people who had registered with Coolendel to be added to the list started at the last two Club rounds. We had better add Crummy's name to that list. Its good to see the support from the out of towner's. So every things in place for a great weekend of riding, racing and camping.

So if you put your name in that Coolendel folder going round at Cabbage tree last race, is that all you have to do, or do you have to call Coolendel and tell them which races you are doing?
I'm a bit confused about why there is a one hour night race at 5:30 and a two hour night race at 6:30. At 5:30 it will still be pretty light won't it? Are they going to be combined? And if so, into a one hour, two hour or three hour night race? If not combined I'm thinking we'll enter the one hour and save our strength till the sunday 4 hour, but if the night races are combined, maybe starting at 5:30 instead of 6:30 isn't such a bad idea so we finish earlier. I'm thinking more time for hanging out, having dinner, Mark's talk etc without making it a late night for the kids.
Brian, have you decided what's happening with the night race and what does everyone else think?

The recording of names in the folders was a way of obtaining "expressions of interest" for the races. There are 90+ riders who indicated they will be entering 1 or more races. I also know there will be a lot of riders just turning up on the weekend.
The usual race registration process will still take place, however, all 'new' riders to a SCUM event who indicated they will be attending by putting their name in the folder, or contacting Coolendel, will be pre-entered into the computer. If we have a few helpers, we can run 2 computers for the registration to speed things up.
I think Brian's idea for the 2 night races was for a novice/beginner race followed by a race for the more experienced riders.

If novice and more experienced riders race together in the other two races, why not in the night race? The course is pretty long and there won't be that many riders to make it too crowded will there? I thought last year's night race was really good. But if you split it up it might kind of lose the vibe. (?)

The reason we may have two start times for the morning and night races is because we are not really shore until the day of the race exactly how many starters we will have. By Tuesday afternoon 102 people had contacted Coolendel expressing their wishes to ride on the weekend, to be added to this are the people who put their names on the sheets at the last two Club races. Because alot of people will team up for Sundays four hour numbers should not be a problem. If because of numbers we need to run two night races the first has been brought foward to allow the second to finish a bit earlier. The Club committee we also decide the track layout for the various races once they have riden the new bit, as the distances can be 5,6 or 7 klms and the degree of difficulty varied. I think at this moment with the way the entries are coming in, there will be two morning races with the first time slot being being (with the committees approval) the 5km loop and the second the more testing 6km loop. The night race is a bit harder to determine numbers at this point in time. With regards to lights it is recommended that people bring their lights already charged. However the power will be avaliable in the shelter shed for people that do need to charge their lights but you should bring your own power board.

Hey guys,
Firstly, I'd like to thank Brian for a great week-end, all the effort Brian and Chater put into the track work - the track was fantastic. Great to see such a large number of people came out to brave the elements (ie. The Wind). Special thanks to Henry for his great work with the computers and timing and all those that helped (Dags, Judy, Jill, Robert, Craig). Special thanks to the cheer squad on the night race, the saucepan and passion pop worked well!!
Cheers, Whitto

Thanks for a great race Sunday, did anyone take any photo's that will get put up - I thought I saw one or two people out on the course taking snaps. My first 4hr enduro solo, enjoyed every minute, even the last 20-30 mins when it was getting tough.
