I ventured down to Ulladulla today to ride in the Milton Ulladulla District (MUD) MTB Pairs 2 hour. This was a 'blind' pairs format where your partner was drawn out of hat and you had to ride lap about, ie no double laps.
When I arrived, the organisers, Bart and Ally were very welcoming and friendly, the whole atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.
Adam (a regular SCUM race attendee) volunteered to take me for a sighter/warm up lap. Straight from the start you start climbing and continue to do so for 1.5K's. It's not as hard as it sounds with switchbacks and some flatter sections to take the sting out of the climb. At the top there is a bit of a traverse with some flowing sections and some tight and twisty sections. Then there are more swicthbacks, only downhill this time. Across the bottom there a number of gullys to negotiate, with steep entrances and steeper exits, a bridge followed by a tight right hander around a tree and then pallet drop.
The track surface was very greasy after the overnight rain, which made it interesting to start with, but as it dried out grip improved, so did the lap times.
All up, only 4.5k's, but a great track.
The MUD MTB crew will be holding more events in the future and I would encourage everyone to take the drive down (its an hour from Nowra to the race venue). A great track, good organisation and loads of friendly people. ;D

Went down to Ulladulla for the second installment of the MUD MTB Pairs races. A few more SCUM riders made the trip and I'm sure they were rewarded for their efforts. A new track to ride and a very relaxed and social atmosphere. The MUD MTB track is even better in the dry, and having ridden it before probably helped too ;D. The young guns, Matt and Kurt were teamed together, only because they arrived just as the race was about to start (something about a detour to Mogo? ?). Anyway, Kurt did an amazing first lap straight out of the car with no warm up to lead the race after the first lap. Matt wasn't to be outdone, setting a new lap record. These two won the race with 8 laps, one ahead of second and third places. Russ did a couple of laps with the helmet camera on , so watch out for a You Tube link from the MUD MTB website mudmtb.asn.au/

I don't think so, this track is on private property to the west of Lake Tabourie.
I think the track you rode may have been at Termiel.

It is just a social ride. The Pig run consists of some huge Gullies...I have never seen some so big! So much fun...there is a multitude of tracks off Lemon Tree Creek Rd that we have just started to explore apart from our usual loops.
Anyone is welcome to come along it is always fun riding somewhere different...could also ride our race track at Tabourie aswell if anyone wants to suss it out.
