Hi Folks, I have attached a map of how to get to Scots College, Kangaroo Valley for round 4, click the link in the post below or click on the "Directions Tab" on the SCUM homepage. Also there is a course map and terrain profile to give you a feel for the course layout. The descent to the campus is steep. Please drive slow on the College property. The course has a combination of fire trail, fast flowing single track, and technical climbs and descents. It would be recommended to arrive early to complete a lap of the course prior to racing. A lap is approx. 7km. Elite riders will take around 20 minutes, Masters 25 minutes, and Juniors 30-35 minutes per lap. There is a fair bit of climbing, but the reward is some long fast descents on a new cross country berm track that will put a smile on your face . Novice juniors may have difficulty with some aspects of the course. B lines have been put in to eliminate some technical climbs. There is a possibility of a kids race on a flat section near the start at the conclusion of the main event! This to be confimed by the race organiser on the day. A 10.00am start time has been confirmed but please still arrive early to register and pre-ride the course. Ian Boyle

G'day Riders, Just to add to Ben's comments, the SCUM Rnd 4 XC Interclub with SHCC was a great success. It is always good to ride on new trails and it was fantastic of the facilitators and managers of Glengarry to allow use of their property for our club race. A big thank you to Meaghan Binder and Garry Eccles for sitting in the hot seat of computer registration. After an early start and an hour or two of sitting down in the misty coldness of a Kangaroo Valley morning, Meaghan went on to win her category and with impressive lap times as well. The organisation was a dream on the day. I actually did not need to tow the trailer into the valley as most of the furniture and shelter was set up and a power extension lead ready for timing computers when I arrived - Thank Ian and Sue Boyle for the use of their facilities and home during the race and a special thank you to Sue for the mid race coffee and tea tray that Sue prepared for the timing crew. This should be a mandatory for all races... Tait Fortier, I hope your noggin, ear and neck are okay mate - you had us worried and I had double zero dialled on the phone ready to punch the third zero to call the ambulance depending on the feed back from the course marshallers - luckily, not required. Course Marshallers you say?! Yes, we had several people on course marshalling, all with long range UHF radios. Fantastic!! As race director for an unknown course this was brilliant. A big, big thank you to Jim Anderson who would have been course director if we had time for titles. There was a last minute decision at the start line to send the U13 boys and girls around an less than arduous later part of the track. We didn't have a single DNF from the U13 Boys and Girls. We did have an EIGHT year old boy (read eight years old) who was wrongly placed in the U13 boys (2 laps) and should have been placed in Novice Boys (1 lap) by myself. Any way, results have been adjusted and well done to Leon for completing his lap. The DH crew would love to know this kid wore bright red and white full length riding trousers and long sleeve fox jersey and was riding a dirt jump bike. The view from the comfort of the timing was seeing some "red" faces as they passed transition. The after race banter described the track as "not very flat at all". Again, big thank you to Ian and Jaxon Boyle and the track maintenance crew for presenting such a race worthy trail for the race. Again, a race directors dream. A lot of things slotted in to place on the day to make this event a reality. I only came onboard at the later stages of last week to help run the race and all I needed was my experience from previous rounds. Many hands indeed make light work and I do thank everyone who was involved. Bring on next years!! Link to results www.filesanywhere.com/fs/v.aspx?v=8971668a586370b9b19fResults will not be on the website for a while so please feel free to download and share with your friends. Regards Kel Hockey
