Hi everyone just thought I'd inform you if you did not know that James "Willio" Williamson has died. This is some news from the Hearld Sun paper. AUSTRALIAN mountain biker James Williamson has died while competing in South Africa. A former world solo 24-hour champion and respected cycling journalist, 26-year-old Williamson from Canberra died in Ceres in the Western Cape province while taking part in the 722km Absa Cape Epic stage race, according to The Cape Argus newspaper. The newspaper reported that team mate Shaun Lewis was unable to wake Williams yesterday morning. He was taken to Ceres Private Hospital but could not be revived. Cape Epic race media director Sonja Guldner-Hamel told BikeRadar.com: "James was a very enthusiastic mountain bike journalist who had expressed interest to ride the race over the last few years. "After yesterday's Stage Two through singletrack paradise he was all smiles, repeatedly expressing how he enjoyed yesterday's route. "He'll be deeply missed in the mountain biking media fraternity." The Canberra Times said a post-mortem was expected in either South Africa or Australia to determine the cause of his death. It is understood Williamson's family will arrive in South Africa later today. It's bad new for the Mountain Biking World. yfrog.com/jyjameswilliamsonxj

I met James on the side of the track practising for my first Mont in 07. After a brief chat we rode off as he fixed a flat. I had no idea who he was or what his acheivments where just that he was a nice guy, my mate later informed me that that was James Williamson and who James Williamson was. A few minutes later he politely flew past us.
This encounter has profoundly effected my love of Mountain biking and what it means to be a mountain biker, No egos required, enjoy just enjoy your ride and enjoy riding with others.
Black arm band for me this Mont weekend.
Thanks Willo
Cheers Matt
