In a effort to discourage Moto's from using our tracks I have taken to a new strategy. I came across a few the other day riding near butterfly. Having spent some time working on butterfly I'm a little sensitive to the detrimental effects of some moto's upon the mountain bike tracks that we will hopefully be able to call our own soon.
As it is at present all we can do is be polite and try to educate these poor simples but we do have another avenue.
If you come across an unregistered moto, it will be the one without a number plate, it can not be legally ridden on Butterfly road, East Stump Road, Coondoo Road or West Boundary road. These and all those other roads in Currumbeen state forrest are public roads so vehicles that travel upon them need to be registered. So I dobbed on them ;D.
I went to the crime stoppers web site and filed a traffic violation complaint. I couldn't fill in a lot of the details but at the very least I will get a stat up in some bean counters computer. I would encourage anyone else to do the same if you see an unregistered motor bike being ridden. This way we will get the attention of the police and get some patrols by the local men in blue on their motos which may go someway to discouraging moto's from riding on or near the hopefully soon to be scum tracks.
Cheers The Snitch

Good advice Matt....Not only can you report unregistered motos, you can inform registered motos they are actually breaking the law riding our trails, obviously this should be done diplomatically as most genuinely think they can ride anywhere in a State Forest....they cant.....if they get narky or smart or basically tell you where to go, take their numberplate and follow Matt's instructions.
Our land managers, FNSW, actually encourage us to do this.... basically we are the minders of our trails.
