Night Race - Sat 28/8/10

Due to the lack of recent racing, I am going to put on a race on Saturday 28 August 2010 at Coondoo.

Help will be needed with timing and track preparation to make this happen. The sections of the Coondoo track to be used will be at the discretion of the track preparation team.

The race will start at 5pm and run for two (2) hours.

Categories will be solo male or female and pairs male, female or mixed.

The usual race entry fees will apply.

Hopefully, Mother Nature will smile on us and keep the rain away, so get your lights charged and ready. This will be good preparation for both Coolendel and the Scott24.

I'll do the track prep and proper course marking on the Friday afternoon before the race from about 1-3pm.

OK, the necessary approvals have been obtained and volunteers have come forward - thanks Judy, Lewy, Jill, Dave and Kel.

So as long as Mother Nature has no objections, the race will go ahead.

Managed to get out to Coondoo today, spade, bow saw and two kids in tow. Must have been a day or so to late as the Pink paint was already out (Josie wanted to know why it was a girl colour?). I wish to report that we removed seventeen sticks and one rock from the track and the parts we walked looked good. Not sure if "Hot as Hell" is planned for use tomorrow but if not it would be good to give it a run soon, if possible.

Good night for a race for the small number of people who turned up.

Hopefully some more can be programmed in for the future.

It was a great night for a race and all those Monday night rides have finally paid off with my first top ten finish. I couldn't have done it without the great work of Henry, Judy, Jill, Lewy and Kel. Thanks again for putting on the race that has propelled me as a Mountain biker into the status of Top Ten Contender ;D.
