Okay, Closer to race day and it seem safe to think that the round will be a goer. The 48 hour weather forecast has Nowra Hill and Falls Creek enjoying not much rain and sunny skies. We will see. As a back-up plan against ill timed rain I have approached the land owner of the property that lies between the Princes Hwy and the traditional start/finish area of Coondoo. they have agreed to allow access to the trail head through their property on Sunday between 7am and 1pm. This is a great relief as it means that we will have foul weather access to the track and not have to worry about 2WD access to the venue. click this link to see a map. www.scum.asn.au/maps/Coondoo%20parking.jpg Due to the crash barrier running up the middle of the double dual carriage way highway, you will need to approach the access road FROM the north. The drive way is in between the intersections of Princes Highway and Forest Rd and Princes Hwy and Comberton Grange Rd. Signage will be placed in the highway to help guide you. If you do use the Farm access, once on the farm please keep your car driving as slow as possible - at or below 10km/ph. The farm is a working one and has horses and livestock that may shy away from cars and do some damage to themselves and the property if startled. You can still access the venue via Western Rd, south or north bound, but the road is quite cut up and you'll need to take care driving the road. With a bit of night rain on Saturday it could quite easily turn into a wet claypan of doom. As well as a set course and timing, the Club will be providing a BBQ and a drink stall. The usual sausage sandwiches will be sold as well as cold drink on completion of the race. With the vehicle access to the venue secured, it will be only major rain on the morining of the race that will cause me cancel the race. Joe Ward and a few others worked pretty hard to create drainage to remove any standing water off the track it is known as a well draining track due to it's sandy soil type. Fingers crossed, we should have a great race to run on Sunday. Cheers Kel 0434287401

Right, Plans have been executed and sacrifices made to the weather gods. It has all paid off I think. I'll be brutally honest and state that the Coondoo course is in the BEST condition I have seen it in quite a while. Puddles have been drained, leaf litter has been literally blown away and the course is hard and very fast. According to the weather www.weatherzone.com.au/nsw/illawarra/nowra-naval-po/detailed-forecast we are going to be blessed with optimal riding conditions and temps. I will post once again on this forum first thing tomorrow morning to state the obvious which will be "The race is on" Cheers Kel.

Also, bring some gold coins as the club will be selling the venerable sausage sandwiches and cold cans of carbonated drink from around 11am.
