Hi Guys, just a quick reminder that Rnd 2 at Butterfly is less than 2 weeks away. Went out there today and rode most of the track and it is quite rideable, but has alot of leaflitter and bark all over the track. We had a promising start to our volunteer drive last week at coondoo, and would like to keep the momentum going and remind all that the club needs volunteers at every event to help them run smoothly. We already have a few for the butterfly round, but a few more would be handy, especially for our track prep afternoon(probalby the afternoon or morning before the race), keep you posted. We also need a Race Director! With the exception of the hard bits, this is quite an easy job! Essentially, you will be running the race. Any takers, pls call me on 0422 368 300. Regards Craig

Track Preparation Session
There will be a short track preparation session on Saturday 19th February at 5pm, meeting at the start area at the quarry on Butterfly road.
SCUM needs help from members willing to help out with track preparation before races.
This will be a simple rake over to remove sticks, leaves and bark to bring the track up to scratch for the race the following day.
If you are interested in helping please call Geoff Lockhart on 0418165228 or 44225018, or simply turn up on the day by 5pm.
Thank you
Geoff

Track Preparation Session
Those members who have offered to help, or will be helping next Saturday (19th Feb) at 5pm to prepare the Butterfly track for Sundays race just need to bring a rake or rake hoe with them to use removing leaves, sticks, bark, and some rocks off the track.
Make sure you contact me beforehand, or be out there by 5pm on Saturday.
Hopefully this rain will go away and we'll be able to get to the course, and have a good race at Butterfly on Sunday.

Hi Craig
If it has to come to it, i'll be the race director if im allowed. I'm a quick learner and all you have to do is to show me what to do if it means everyone else gets to race.

the weather has held out for us so far this week,( to my surprise!!!), so unless we get dumped on this evening or tomorrow morning, round 2 at butterfly looks like a goer! REgo from 7:30 and hopefully racing at 9. Those who haven't yet to give us hand at a round, pls check your diarys and see if you can help out at future rounds. A volunteer roster has commenced and will be present again tomorrow. This round was nearly cancelled as we had no race director until a few days ago. Luke Harden has put his hand up to have a go, so we all owe him some thanks. If we do experience bad weather tonight and we have to cancel, it will be done on this thread around 6:30 -7:00. The problem with butterfly is not the track, but the road in!...., look forward to seeing all in the morning.
Regards Craig

Results are up on the website or go to www.scum.asn.au/2011/SCUM_2011_Summer_Rnd2_Results.pdfWell done to those that raced, even bigger props to those who ran the race. Looking at the race times, Andrew Arthur achieved a 13m04s lap blowing Josh Carlson's lap record out of the water. Was the track run as usual or was the course shortened? Cheers Kel.

It was a very different track to the 'normal' Butterfly. And it was bloody good. Some sections run oposite way and a double back down the powerlines. Good work Craig for coming up with some fresh track ideas. Thanks also to the race director (Luke Harden) and time keepers/rego people. On a side note' riding in this event was a bloke I used to work with at BHP. I never knew he rode until I bumped into him at the Scott 24 last year and told him how good the tracks were down here. He is from up Wollongong way( single speed nutter) and had bought his daughter down to get in some race ride time for the upcoming schools champs at Thredbo. He loved the track and said he and some mates were interested in coming down for some events but realy liked the idea of the enduros. So it good to know that poeple are looking at the web site and like the new look calender with the different types of events proposed. Too much typing. Good night.
