Hi Everyone. On the 2nd of October is our next Summer round, which is next weekend at Butterfly.
Just the usual call out to people who want to help out with the race. If anyone one would like to have a go as race director give us a buzz. It's not hard. This would allow myself and others to have a race.
Thanks Luke 0448755533

Hi Luke,
I've already let Matt know that I won't be around next weekend.
Call for volunteers
We need some volunteers to not only have a go at registration and timing but also to do some trail maintenance and setting up on Saturday before the race.
We've had some wind and rain since I was last out working on Butterfly so there will be sticks down and possibly a few minor drainage problems that need addressing.
If you can help out please notify here and start organising a time to meet at the track on Saturday.
Thanks
Geoff Lockhart

A couple of potential snags for the weekend but with a bit of luck and some keen bodies we may be ok.
1. The Weather! As we all know Butterfly road becomes very buttery at the first whiff of rain, which is forcast. We may change to Superbowl.
2. Russ is away and I've got Whopping cough that leaves Luke as our only commitee member available on Sunday. He needs some helpers so please contact him if you can lend a hand.
On the upside this will be the relaunch of the age based catagories and Heavy SCUM is ready to roll for the big fellas.
Will make a call on Saturday if we run or not so keep an eye on Forum.
Cheers Matt

John, Turn right off the hwy into Forest Rd. About 7km veer left into Butterfly Rd (dirt or maybe mud ). There should be signs up on the day if race is on but as Matt has said keep an eye on the forum Sat arvo for update. OkaRuss

Firstly, I will be race director for this round. Antibiotics are great. Secondly, I've moved it to Superbowl, with the forecast looking dodgy we will never get into butterfly, and we may yet have to cancel if rain is bad. I'll need someone to do a run around Superbowl and let me know of any problems caused by the wind, fix them if you can otherwise post it here and we shall try to get it fixed. Will be looking for some help with timing on Sunday and a few odd jobs so don't be shy or stand around looking bored. Heavy SCUM is on so beef up and pray for some good weather. Cheers Matt

So the race is definitely at superbowl (weather permitting) not butterfly, just to clarify as it still says butterfly on the webpage?

As most would already suspect conditions at the Superbowl pool are officially heavy and I don't expect a good track to emerge for tomorrow morning.
d**n shame but hopefully the rest of the weekend is going great.

Is it worth driving down from Wollongong? It's been raining heavily here. The forecast for Nowra is heavy rain until midday. Can someone text me on 0401351414 if it ends up being cancelled? Thanks,
Andrew.

Hi everyone
As it has been raining all night the race is CANCELED. Matt has checked the track this morning and unless you like swimming you won't have much fun as the track is under water.
Thanks Luke

Thanks Luke. Race Canceled! Disappointing I know but here are the reasonings:
Weather. It's rained all night and the forecast was not good with weatherzone predicting heavy rain at 9am, the BOM radar showing rain coming.
Water on track. I didn't go far but water was already sitting on the new section.
Long weekend, we where unsure how many people are in town.
Grand Finals, big weekend of football taking peoples attention.
Daylight savings, no one wants to get out of bed even when they know what time it is!
Sniffles I'm just getting over a nasty bout and with the SCOTT on next week I wasn't keen for Luke to get a sniffle
Yes yes excuses excuses I know but the real and most compelling reason for canceling the race was the Heavy SCUM factor! With the potential for hundreds of very powerful huge men coming to share in the spoils (cake) we risked destroying the track as we smashed our way around the soft coarse on relatively skinny tires! I was hoping that by having Nowra Baptist Church (shameless plug, services at 9.30am and 4.30pm followed by big screen grand final today)sponsor the event the biggest of fellas would be a bit kinder to us.
Start looking for Coondoo next round!!
thanks for caring Matt Grootenboer SCUM President (by default) Trails Coordinator (Acting, looking for someone) Race Director (for canceled October round) Elite forum member
Anyone for Cake? It was a Mud cake Pat!
