Every week I get 3 emails from Torpedo7, Cell and Chain Reaction none of whom are local, none of whom support SCUM. I've spoken to a few of our local retailers and encouraged them to let us, SCUM, know how we can support them.
One way that I thought might be good is if they used the forum to let us know of any specials.
For example, a few weeks ago Bikecorp had Limar xride helmets on special, had one of bikecorp's retailers let us know via the forum we could have had them order one and had it in our hand the day that they appeared on the Torpedo7 weekly special list.
A healthy local industry is good for us all so I encourage all local retailers to use the forum to communicate with SCUM members.
Cheers Matt

Cheers Matt A great way to support two of our longest standing local supporters of SCUM would be to give them back their chosen timeslot to hold their popular 6 hour event that was ripped out from underneath them by the previous regime to give the timeslot (and our three premier tracks at once ) to 'Blackheart'....who?!?....what have they ever done for SCUM?!?! Bring back the Bike Shack/XFusion 6 hour!!.... ;D

Bring back the Bike Shack/XFusion 6 hour!!.... ;D The Xfusion/Shak Attack was a great event but was also a lot of work for Duncan and Dave to put on. I doubt it would have run again anyway as we also had Choccy foot running their single track mind series on the same course. If this is something that someone out there wants we would welcome it but that's another thread. Choccyfoot and Blackheart have both shown themselves to be very good partners with SCUM and I point to Joe and Fi's involvment at the state round and Matt and Amanda Koerber dealings with the club at the last AGM and there postponement of "THE 100ker" as examples of the respect and commitment that they have to SCUM. They also part of the industry that we wish to promote for our members. My breif dealings with our local shops is that they are warry of treading on each others toes and I guess we don't some kind of ugly bidding war but while they are all girl thingyfooting around each other online retailers are bombing away at their customers. I want to know if I can get a pair of limar baggy's on sale! I want to know if Merida are flogging off carbon frames today! Keep an eye on Heavy SCUM, not just the outstanding power athletes but as an example of how to get $30 of advertising at an event and on forum. Get creative and don't say SCUM does nothing for local business, we won't do it for you but we are available. Cheers Matt

Disagree Matt...Dave and Jill (Bike Shack) and Duncan (XFusion) have all held positions on the committee at different times, which as I'm sure you appreciate, does way more to support the club than coming to a few meetings and using SCUM's trails for the prime purpose of doing business....anyway sorry if I've wandered slightly from the intent of the original post, I'm just club and volunteers passionate...
