I'm sure there are a few still with good old 'cycle computers' and was sort of hoping to draw lap distances from them by way of comparison.
When you look at the spaghetti that is the gps tracks from these laps you wonder how they end up even as close as they do to one another.

Looking at the strava info for Lewy and Andrew it seems that Andrew manage to complete each lap with @ 100-200 metres less distance covered hmmm... could be smart line choice or could be the smarter gps Probably a combination of different lines and different gps Anyway I calling the track @ 5.7km based on the 3 logged on the SCUM Strava Club (see Lewy's thread) Thanks for the race guys, really enjoyed it. I do notice that my Garmin 800 struggles with proper distances, particularly on windy tracks. I think thats why they supply a Cadence/Trip meter with it. That is on my roadbike though.

Matty runs a wheel sensor computer on his bike, I remember him saying that the track was about 8 kays. I'l check with him tonight.
...he also said that the track seemed to go for ever because he was expecting it to finish after about 6 kays (which was what I tld him).. ;D

Whilst I think everyone was impressed with the performances of the heavy SCUM boys and some of those skinny fellas, Carlson, Ward, Fenner and a top ride from Tuckerman.
Check out the resuts for Matthew Rodrigues and Lisa Morgan.

Check out the resuts for Matthew Rodrigues and Lisa Morgan. Very impressive times indeed. With a bit more training they will be overtaking me. On the track distance, my computer said 22kms all up that included riding from car down to the start line then back to my car after the race. I think close to 6 kms is the correct distance. I will have to go and re measure all tracks using the bike computer.

That is the debate. GPS v cycle computer. If you're out there at any of our tracks record the lap distance and what you used to measure it and post it on the forum. If you're the first to post a track length start a new post titled 'Track length'. We'll then see how close the two types of devices are.
