Hi all. I was looking around the site for info about the number of laps each of the new categories would do for XC racing. Our Race Info page has not been updated since the cat changes last year. What are the new lap requirements?

OK here's the go. Pretty much the same as last years state round but with the B and C club grade catagories no longer included.
Elite Male 5laps
Elite Female 4laps
Expert Male 4laps
Under 19 Male 3laps
Under 19 Female 2laps
Under 17 Male 3laps
Under 17 Female 2laps
Under 15 Male 2laps
Under 15 Female 2laps
Under 13 Mixed 1 - modified
Veteran Male 30- 39 3laps
Veteran Female 30- 39 3laps
Master Male 40- 49 3laps
Master Female 40- 49 2laps
Super-Master Male 50+ 3laps
Super-Master Female 50+ 2laps

Do they still base the age from what you will be in December?
If I turn 40 this year do I race in masters?

It is the age you are at the 31st December 2012. Just think Lewy, if you turn 40 this year you could have up to 9 years advantage over your competitors and therefore you will be at the 'Pinnacle' of the category  Russ |

In addition to the above catagories is an Expert Female and they will do 3laps.
When we get to the XC round at Coondoo which is a longer course it may be decided to adjust the number of laps required for some or all of the catagories.

Can I guess that Sport Men would be 3 laps and Sport Women 2 laps?

Yes that would be correct. Sport men 3laps and sport women 2 laps.
