Members The 2012 AGM was held last night and due to a very poor attendance only 2 positions, President and Secretary/Treasurer were filled. These are mandatory executive positions to enable us to remain as an incorporated association with Dept of Fair Trading and as such, affiliated with MTBA. To assist the club to effectively carry on business (the business of Mountain Biking ) we need an enthusiastic XC Coordinator and also will need to discuss how we are going to manage our trails. Now whether that means we need a Trails Coordinator or just a group of motivated/passionate trail workers will be up to consensus. Have a think about these things, reply back via the forum or email or phone. If this requires another special general meeting thats fine but we will need a commitment of people that will definately attend before we schedule this meeting. There was some interesting ideas/suggestions for the year ahead discussed at the meeting, so it would be great to float these to the greater SCUM community to get feedback...over to you MEMBERS!! ;D Pat Pavlich President 0417428382 patnlynn@exemail.com.au

I am keen to back into trails stuff again. There are things that I'd like to do and some real needy bits of track but am aware that we need a coordinated approach so would love to work either under direction of trails coordinator or trails group. I am not sure which way would be best for club, if there was someone that wanted to have a coordinators role I would be happy to support their efforts.
It would be good to see some one from the racing scene step in with xc coordintors role, someone with a passion for racing. It's not my thing but would be happy to help especially on non sunday races. Thanks Pat
Cheers Matt

Lewy has volunteered for Trails coordinator, well done mate, you have plenty of experience and I'm sure you'll mentor any interested trail creating enthusiasts.

Im likewise with "riderdown". Happy to get involved when possible under the guidance of a trail coordinator but have got too much on my plate to get any further involved.

I'm happy to continue with the role I have filled for the past three years guys, ie look after the Butterfly track, if nobody else wants to have a go. I would prefer to work under the direction of a Coordinator and committee too, mainly because I feel there are changes needed to sections of Butterfly (I just keep patching up the existing problems, eg drainage, bipassing rutted sections, etc) and may need some feedback from others on which way to go in the future. Along with others I am very busy and struggle to get out there when races are coming up, but I do my best to get the track ready, plus I am trying to mix mtb with road this year, which has caused a few DNSs for me at SCUM races unfortunately. Like I said...happy to continue looking after Butterfly if you want me to.

I am monitoring this thread guys and thanks for the feed back and support so far.
Geoff thanks for the effort you have put it so far enabling the club to at least hold races on the track, but totally agree after riding Butterfly on the weekend it's definately the track we should focus on for refurbishment and with consultation with Lewy I think we should plan a day to head out there and put ideas to ground. Not 100% sure whether this is the best time of the year (weather wise) but lets discuss.
We are still in an unknown area with regards to supporting the remaining races for the year and planning for the next year and this is the main area I think we need to discuss with all interested members....this needs to happen at a meeting I am basically using this forum to generate interest and a date to plan a meeting.

Happy to join in and help out where possible, family and broken cars seem to get in the way of things, but will be happy to fix tracks and assist with events, seeing as riding in them seems to be an issue Cheers Ades

With only 10 days to go untill the 2013 AGM I encourage all SCUM members (or just anyone interested in riding MTB on the south coast) to have a quick read back through this post. Will the 2013/2014 year be any different...

Just checked my MBTA membership and I did nominate on there for commisionaire, happy to follow through with it for the club if you want, Pat and Russ. It might take some playing around to get it sorted and completed, but happy to get it done if needed...

It might take some playing around to get it sorted and completed, but happy to get it done if needed... To become a level 1 commissaire you must complete an online course and subsequent assessment with MTBA. At the moment because of lack of support from MTBA, we essentially conduct a risk assessment for each club event and run without an authorised level 1 commissaire, but if MTBA tighten the thumb screws we'll have to reassess. I still encourage as many people to try and complete the course because it will be the future.
