Something happened after the race on Sunday that I certainly haven't experienced in the 8 years I've been assisting in running SCUM events. We had wrapped up and it was time to head home (about 2:00pm). There was the Phelan family, Matt Kidd and Lynn and I remaining and Lewy and Adrian were still out collecting arrows, when Matt said, "we have one car too many left...who owns that one" and pointed to a car parked on the pipeline rd. On investigation it's back seats were down and there was evidence it was used to transport a bike. We went into panic mode thinking there may still be a rider out on track. Vanessa confirmed all race plates were back and after the computer was unpacked again and for a double confirmation a rider emerged from the track. Lewy was not far behind him and as it turned out he was a mate of Lewys and had arrived towards the end of the event to do a clearing lap with him. To say we were relieved would have been an understatement but it highlighted a few points. [li] [/li][li] [/li][li] [/li][/ul]

Which is the point of the sweep rider who would have picked him up. And I would have thought the more approriate time to panic would have been when I returned not before ;DVanessa confirmed all race plates were back and after the computer was unpacked again and for a double confirmation a rider emerged from the track. Mate it wasn't a blame game, they were purely valid points that need to be addressed in the future to prevent this sort of thing happening again....let's learn from it eh!!
