Due to lack of interest/support the XC series race proposed for Sunday 18 August at Coondoo has been cancelled.

So disappointing. Pat what do we need to do as a club to get back to having races once a month. If it's a case of support I'm sure some of us could step up and have a go. Any other takers out there ?

So disappointing. Pat what do we need to do as a club to get back to having races once a month. If it's a case of support I'm sure some of us could step up and have a go. Any other takers out there ? Brad, don't be so sure...for a club that has around 90 members at any given time, how do you explain at an AGM only 6 members attending (the case at the last 2 AGMs) and 2 of those members were the President and the Secretary....certainly doesn't indicate a sense of interest/support to me?!?! For a successful race program you need a dedicated, reliable, self managing team, not just expect one person to organise the lot. If you or anyone else want to form and be responsible for that team (the AGM would have seemed to be the appropriate place to do that...however) by all means put a proposal to the committee and we can hold a "special general meeting" to discuss and possibly implement it....keeping in mind we held a social race/ride day only a few weeks ago to give people the opportunity to learn and have a "pressure free" hands on with the timing computers...two new people had a go and one of those was my wife and she won't be going on any race committee. Russ and I have just about run out of ideas to get people enthused...it seems most people just want to ride...*NEWSFLASH*...so do we!! Priority No.1 for us as a committee is to do the best we can to comply with the contractual agreement we have with the land managers of our trails, so we can keep them SO, people have a place to ride... any more than that needs to come from the enthusiasm and committment from interested/motivated members. Sorry if this sounded negative it certainly wasn't meant to be, it is simply a true snapshot of where the club is right now. Pat President

Hi Pat A difficult call but a sensible one under the circumstances. Here's hoping that this shocks us into action ... I'm part of the guilty crowd of not assisting in the past, but am happy to make more of an effort. I'd be up for attending a SGM or similar if we get interest in the same (fingers crossed). Cheers Grant

Sad to see that we are in this predicament, and i am as guilty as anyone else. I was on a roll about a year ago coming down regularly to race and help but ever since my new job my available 'bike' time has been harder to find forcing me to stay local. Living in the Gong dosen't help :-( I do hope to start getting down there again very soon. Especially with young Matty showing a keen interest in XC racing lately :-) Russ

Hi All I`m not a member yet , my license is due for renewal next month and i was going to renew through scum as wmbc have no track . What about a rotating roster each month ? I`m happy to help so i will put my hand up for the next one ( and will ride after the race ) but someone will have to show me the ropes . I live in Warilla so generally only come down for race days . I have seen social rides posted but don`t look at these as i have somewhere closer to home to ride due mostly to time constraints . Perhaps a thread solely named VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR NEXT RACE so that ignorant people like me read it and say "sure , I`ll do it " . Cheers Mario

Pat just to clarify do we not have a xc co ordinator at the moment ? If not I'm willing to have a go and complete the rest of the races on the calendar for the year. Grant's keen to come on board and my wife can also assist. So with everyone else on this post who said that they can volunteer their time I'm sure we can eventually get back to racing every month. The only problem being is that we are a bit green so we need to learn the ropes.
