I just wanted to share an email I received (and my reply) the other day from I guess a concerned downhiller, about the position of the Funnelweb for any other downhillers that may be interested.
Hi,I was just contacting you today inquiring about the funnelweb downhill track? I was just wondering what was happening with it? Is it being maintained? Do scum still overlock and control the track? Or not so much anymore?

At this stage it is not included in our occupancy permit with Forestry Corporation (we have some ideas for the future) however they still hold us responsible for basically maintaining it. We keep watch over it (I was there only two weeks ago) and we know a dedicated group of downhillers are keeping it in order, so while ever that dedication is happening we are comfortable. As soon as it goes ferral or too many alterations occur (ie. we effectively lose control) we will inform Forests and they will
essentially close the track down. So hopefully common sense will prevail, people will continue to enjoy riding it and basically maintain it and not do anything stupid and the downhilling community will retain an awesome asset!
