Hope you've been breaking that Brooks saddle in Russ or it will break you! The brooks gets better every ride Tippo. Adjustment is critical though.

Looks good Russ. Have you tried plastic cateye or elite bottle cages? Have been using the cateye ones for years without issue. Yeah i've got one of those Lewy and i'll give it a try. I'm hoping it will have more friction to hold the bottle and stop it jumping vertically and out.

Nice steed Russ! Did you end up staying overnight? You got me thinking about my front sprocket.....might go down a couple of sizes me thinks... No i came home the same day. Think of it like loading up a truck, the more gears the better with a good low range ratio. Although some do choose to go single speed and keep things simple.

So I finally got my bikepacking arse into gear and loaded up the bike and got out there with a mate for an s24o trip to Booderee NP. I had an experimental setup to start with to see if I liked the idea (I do!!) so I will be refining it over the next few trips. Just had tent wrapped in heavy plastic and self-inflating sleeping mat in a plastic bag on the rack, my sleeping bag on the bars and the rest of my stuff in a small pack. We camped at Caves Beach so didn't bother with much water and we shared a tent so my mate carried all the food in. It would be a different set up solo or bushcamping. We rode from Woollamia via the firetrails behind Husky to Bayswood then up the trail by the Vincentia Golf Course to the water tower then straight into Booderee NP and down to Cave Beach for the night. A nice chorizo/pasta pile up was fried and boiled up on an open fire BBQ for dinner washed down with a nice James Squire Pilsner kept cold by carrying them in stubby holders (one night trips are great!!). A leisurely breakfast was had in the morning before packing it all up. We shared the load again. We then headed down Bherwere Beach (low tide) in pretty dicey weather to Sussex Inlet and rode back up Elmoos Rd after being rained on a few times. We turned off before the park entrance to Wrights Beach and through Erowal Bay and back up the hill to Naval College Rd and down to Hyams Beach. Then it was a cruisy ride home along White Sands Walk and the bikepath back to Husky and Woollamia via the bakery for a well earned pie and coffee. So a couple of hours riding in the afternoon and maybe 4 hours to get home the next day. Brilliant and I can't wait to go again... once it stops raining so much. Highly recommended!!!
