After looking at the photos from the Shack Attack I realized that I have distinct disadvantage to those XC Whippets, yes folks I'm a big unit. Whilst on courses like Cabbage and Coondoo the bigguns raw power can be used to over come the excess baggage on courses like Butterfly and Superbowl we really have no hope of stepping onto the podium as it will be dominated by the "Buttless" racing whippets.
But enough grizzling. Here is what I was thinking.
A side comp run in conjunction with the next SCUM round at "Butterfly" for those 90kg's and over. This is how I see it but others may have better ideas. 1. Sign up for race then sign up for Heavy SCUM with a weigh in. 2. Do race as normal in what ever category you choose. 3. After race we take the fastest lap of each heavy entrant then work out the best average speed per kilo. 4. Award Prize.
Other ideas: One stubby or equivalent entry fee, Winner/s take all? This mustn't add to timings duty's, they have enough to do.
Would there be any interest in this? If so I'll see what can be arranged.
Cheers Matt

Yes I agree. good idea. perhaps those weighing in between 80 and 90 could wear a weight belt if they choose to run that catagory. Other catagorys that run within races always adds to the entertainment value. What about: single speed catagory, retro bike catagory,..... These seem to be popular at choco Foot races. My 2 bobs worth.

All positive so far.
I need to check if the speed per kilo will give us a good even way of scoring so if anyone who did the Shack attack would like to post or PM me their weight I can look at the results and check it. I don't just need the big units for this some of the boney arses can let me know to, Lukey you must be 30kg at least. (For the record I'm 95kgs.)
A couple of potential problems. If the popularity of this takes off we may find we need a portaloo next to the weigh in for body mass unloading. Gender equity! Who'd be brave enough suggest we run this the girls.
Cheers Matt

I think I maybe as well. I just did some calculations and a couple of big units just smashed that boney speedster Fenz going on the best average speed X Weight. That is assuming that mark is still at the "I can't keep my tracky daks up" weight of 70kg as quoted in his Mawson Marathon Blog. Speed Multiplied by weight is that momentum? Ohh yes I am excited!

I think a 90kg starting weight is a little too light.
What about a superheavy catorgory as well. Starting at 115kg and over.
I may even turn up to a race then.
I should check my times from this years Mont24 as I did that at 123kg:)

Hi Matt Just saw your idea this does not bother me at all because im only 50kg. If you think this is a way of you guys getting up on the podium, go ahead with it and have some fun.

So are we going to do this again?
But it make it a whole year thing. I am keen.
Avg lap time per kilo would be good.
I will be weighing in at 123kgs for the round on the Sunday.

Yeah mate, no muckin around, here ;D I was actually 124kgs for the race as riding 360kms in the past 2 weeks has added 1kg in weight. At this rate I will be 240kgs buy Christmas.
We need some more people to step up though.
And someone to work out my avg lap time/fatness ratio.
