It's on!! After months of talk and years of body conditioning we are ready to launch "Heavy SCUM". Sponsored by Nowra Baptist Church, Heavy Scum will run on the October 2nd SCUM Butterfly round. I'd like to thank our Sponsors Nowra Baptist Church, the church that I attend, for coming on board. It wasn't hard to convince them that big units racing mountain bikes are prime candidates for a meeting with the boss. Nowra Baptist have offered some dollars so we will be providing every entrant with a heavy SCUM bag with enough calories that no entrant need worry about not making the weight next time, a heavy SCUM rear number plate so you can see who you are competing against, and obviously some info from NBC about who they are and who they are about, "Jesus". They will also be running the weigh in. How will it work! 1. Sign up for SCUM race as per normal then go to Heavy SCUM board and sign up for Heavy SCUM with a weigh in, 90kg minimum, collect SCUM bag and get ready (please wear Lycra responsibly ) 2. Do race as normal in what ever category you choose. 3. After race we take the fastest average lap speed of each heavy entrant and multiply it by their weight the biggest number wins! 4. Award Prize (Cake) It's time for us big units to shine so start carbo loading and get to the next SCUM round for the NBC Heavy SCUM launch.

I was thinking of writing into Fenz training section in the "Enduro" mag to get some tips on how to ride fast but still look good in jeans but I think we should have a "Ask Lewy" training tips for Power Riders!

I was going to post it up as a social ride, but my 30km social ride last week had no takers so I didn't think a 150km one would get any.
I am open to all advice on training tips though. Mostly on what to eat to attain 100kgs plus ;D

The plan was to buy a cake on way to race now I'm race director I'll have to bake one so I can get there early. Good luck to the winner!! Another reason to checkout our sponsors product lines!!! ;D www.nowrabaptist.org.auwww.jesusmtb.orgI have a few doubts about my catagory calculations but will fiddle with it as we get some stats up. The initial mass by speed should suit those with big mass. Cheers Matt

Next Round Nov 6 is once again the "Nowra Baptist Church Heavy SCUM" Launch. Being Coondoo it should attract a heavy contingent of heavy weights. I've decided to change the weight from kg to stonnes, and the cut off weight will be 15st. This should make for a closer result. Remeber Heavy SCUM is calorie neutral!
Cheers Matt

Well Matt, looks like it could be a 2 horse race, I will be away on holidays and just to make sure I can't ride I dislocated my shoulder in a disgraceful fall on the fire trail near Warra Warra Rd on Saturday. I should have my membership revoke wasnt even a technical part just stuffed up! hope to be riding by 4hr mistery pairs race so the break should give me plenty of carb loading oportunities

Sorry to hear about your fall, I hope your bikes OK Matt ! I'm getting more confident about my chances of "Taking the Cake" in Heavy SCUM, I might even ride in jeans just to rub it in to those buttless whippets in their lycra, sure their fast but they need padding to fill out their denim. Heavy SCUM's sponsor Nowra Baptist Church has it's 75 anniversary celebrations happening. with the John Anderson weekend: John Anderson Weekend On Friday the 28th of October there will be an evening with John and Julia at the "Luke Hardenup"(ed) Bomaderry Bowling Club. On Sunday the 30th of October Nowra Baptist Church will celebrate our 75th anniversary! There will be a combined service at 10:30am followed by lunch. John will be our guest speaker for the event. If you have ever been a part of the NBC family, please join us to celebrate and give thanks to God. www.nowrabaptist.org.au/

Thanks Matt, good news is the bike is Ok just the operator broken. Doc seems confident that I should be OK by 4 hr race though I pity anyone who gets me as a partner without any riding for at least a couple of weeks PS anyone know a good physio in town.
